Gamaret is a Swiss grape variety that was developed in the 1970s from Gamay and Reichensteiner (a white grape variety from Germany). It is characterized by its dark color and intense aromas, and has therefore been an integral part of Swiss viticulture since the turn of the century. It is often used in blends, together with its “siblings,” Gamaret and Mara. Spicy with a phenomenal ageing potential, this wine goes much deeper than the first sip might suggest.
